MIDDLESEX COLLEGE SWEEPS UNION, TIES SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS WITH 31

The Middlesex College baseball team continued its historic season by sweeping Union CC in a home doubleheader 13-2 and 5-4. With a record os 31-15, the Colts have tied a school record for wins in a season.

Middlesex jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and kept the pressure on the Owls throughout. The Colts added three in the third and four more in the fourth to put the game away.

Braden Ramirez (Freshmman/Middlesex, NJ) hit a sac fly and Kiefer Goss (Freshman/Hamilton, NJ) drove home Jordan Brown (Freshman/Piscataway,NJ) with the final Colts runs of Game 1. 

Ryan Pozo (Freshman/Fords, NJ) pitched a complete game to pick up his 7th win of the season.

In Game 2, Middlesex had to come from behind as the Owls touched Game 2 starter Shayne Salvestren (Freshman/Old Bridge, NJ) for two runs int he first. Middlesex answered with a four-run fourth and then extended their lead to 5-3 in the fifth when Colby Chippendale (Freshman/North Port, FL) drove home Jordan Brown.

Union proved tough in Game 2 and got to within 5-4 before Louie Folgore (Freshman/Monroe, NJ) slammed the door with a four-out save.

Middlesex returns to action tomorrow when they host NJCAA Division I ASA College at home. With their next win, Middlesex will set a new school record for wins in a season. Tomorrow's game is also part of Recruit Day, in conjunction with the softball team. The teams invite all local high school baseball and softball players from all grades to campus to see the teams in action.

First pitch is scheduled for noon.
