BARNES, CINEUS LEAD MIDDLESEX MEN'S BASKETBALL PAST WESTCHESTER 80-63
Niko Barnes continued his blistering start to the season with 25 points and Joel Cineus added 20 of his own as Middlesex College Men's Basketball topped Westchester CC 80-63 for its first win of the season.
Barnes, a sophomore transfer from Bloomfield College, has topped 20 points in each of his first three games with the Colts, averaging 23.7 points in that span.
Middlesex is 1-2 on the season while Westchester fell to 2-2.
The Colts and Vikings played a close first half with Middlesex holding a slim 35-32 lead at the break. Middlesex was able to pull away in the second half, outscoring Westchester 45-31 in the second half on the way to the 17-point win.
In addition to being the top two scorers for Middlesex in the game, Barnes and Cineus pulled down eight rebounds each to pace the Colts. Barnes also led Middlesex with seven assists and two steals in a well-rounded effort.
Jalen James (Sophomore/Maplewood, NJ) added 11 points for the Colts while Hashim Nadir (Sophomore/Linden, NJ) led the Middlesex bench with eight points.
Middlesex returns to action on Tuesday when they host Rockland CC. Tipoff is set for 6:00PM.
