MIDDLESEX COLLEGE SOFTBALL WINS IN A WALK OFF AGAINST BERGEN CC

Middlesex College rallied for five runs over the final two innings in support of pitcher Sarah McLaughlin as the Colts topped Bergen CC 8-6 on the back end of a home doubleheader.

Bergen edged Middlesex 14-12 in Game 1.

Middlesex faced a 4-0 deficit going into the bottom of the second of Game 2 but were able to cut that lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

The game went to the bottom of the fourth with Middlesex trailing 6-3, but the Colts were able to rally for three runs to tie the game moving to the fifth. With the threat of the game being called for darkness, McLaughlin worked a quick scoreless top of the fifth.

Middlesex then loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth with two outs when Gianna Rios came through with a bloop hit to drive home two runs to break the tie. The game was called for darkness after Rios delivered the two-run single.

McLaughlin went the distance, allowing three earned runs in five innings.

Kiarelys Santiago Soto went 2-3 with a run and an RBI for Middlesex. Kylie Rackett went 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored for Middlesex as well.

The Colts return to action on Saturday when they face Camden CC.
