MIDDLESEX WRESTLING TOPS TEMPLE IN SEASON OPENER

Middlesex College won four of the six weight classes, all by pinfall, and received a forefeit victory as the Colts won their season-opening bout over Temple, 30-29.

The Colts (1-1) lost their second match of the day, falling to GSAC foe Camden County College, 36-21.

Against Temple, Zain Ahmad (Freshman/South Brunswick, NJ) started off by picking up 12 points in the first period at 125 before finishing his opponent in the second period via fall. Returning Sophmore Christopher Folkens (Middlesex, NJ) followed up with an impressive fall of his own over Lee Faller in the second period. Brett Miller (Freshman/Edison, NJ) took to the mat next in his collegiate debut hitting a huge throw that eventually got him a fall as the Colts built a 24-6 lead against Temple.

Standout 184 pounder Nick Jairdullo (Freshman/South Brunswick, NJ) got to work on top putting up 16 points before his match-clinching fall. Temple won the last two matches by technical fall and forfeit, respectively, but the Colts lead going into the matches was insurmountable.

Against Camden, Zain started the match impressively, taking a 7-6 win over Zachary Huret at 125. Zain was thrown for six points early in the third period, but scored four late points to pick up the one-point win. Troy O'Connor (Freshman/Middlesex, NJ), Miller and Jairdullo all won their bouts for the Colts as well.

Middlesex is back in action on December 5 when they will participate in the Bob Quade Open at Centenary College.
