MIDDLESEX WRESTLING PULLS OUT 25-24 WIN OVER MONMOUTH CLUB IN TRI-MATCH

Zain Amad and Nick Jairdullo each won decisive matches and Middlesex College gained 18 points on forfeits as the Colts edged Monmouth University's club team on criteria 25-24 in a tri-match held at Middlesex College.

The Colts dropped the first match of the day, 31-24 to Williams College of the Trades from Pennsylvania.

Against Williams, Middlesex lost two close matches early, but gained points on forfeit wins as the match progressed. The match wasn't decided until the final bout as Williams carried a 27-24 lead into the 285 pound class. Williams came out with the win to clinch the match.

The Colts match against Monmouth started in the 125-pound class where Amad, a sophomore from South Brunswick, put up an impressive performance, capturing a 9-5 win.

After the teams traded multiple forfeits, Jairdullo took the mat at 184 with Middlesex down 18-15. The sophomore from South Brunswick wrestled a solid match, capturing a 4-1 win in what would be the pivotal bout in the match.

Monmouth captured the heavyweight match to tie the score at 24, but Middlesex gained a bonus point on criteria of winning more head-to-head matches to capture the match.

The Colts return to action next Sunday when they will compete in the Bob Quade Open at Centenary University.
