MIDDLESEX COLLEGE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL WINS SEASON OPENER

Middlesex College Women's Volleyball had the honor of playing the first contest in their newly renovated gym and made it count with a thrilling five set victory over visiting Borough of Manhattan CC.

The Colts won the second and fourth sets while Manhattan won the first and third sets of the back-and-forth match. That set up a decisive fifth set and the Colts were up to the task, topping the Panthers 15-10.

Middlesex forced the fifth set with a 25-20 fourth-set win as they faced defeat.

Lauren De Castro (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) led the Colts with 10 kills while Maryann Lourenco-Rivas (Sophomore/South River, NJ) paced Middlesex with 17 assists.

Brielle Soto (Freshman/Perth Amboy, NJ) added a team-high 14 digs in the victory.

Middlesex returns to action on Saturday when they host a tri-match with Passaic CC and Delaware Community CC. The first match features Middlesex vs. Passaic and is scheduled to start at 11AM.
